Loving The Colors Of Autumn

Theresa Writes: Hi, I need help with paint ideas for my bedroom and kitchen. My bedroom is filled with dark cherry wood furniture and is painted with Glidden Dapper Tan. My kitchen is painted with Venetian Stucco and has black cabinets. I love colors that resemble a pile of leaves; anything brown, orange, green, yellow, or burgundy. I know what colors I like, but I’m not sure how to put it together. I am looking forward to your suggestions and help. Thank you! See Answer From Diane Henkler »

A Big Trend in Kitchen Design

Paul Writes: I have an old kitchen with white appliances, odd blue laminate counteracts, light blue walls. I would like to paint my old white cabinets, but I’m not sure what color I should shoot for. I was considering keeping the top cabinets white and paint the lower portion. I am thinking about a grey color or maybe a dark brown. I definitely need some advice!  Thanks.  See Answer From Eduardo Rodriguez »

Going Green

Pam Writes: I recently renovated my kitchen with white cabinets, marble counters, and a wood floor. I picked a color for the walls that is a very light grey to bring out the color in the marble. I was wondering if you could help me out with choosing a color for my dining room? It's not an open space plan but there is a large opening between both rooms. Should I paint the walls same color as kitchen or choose a different color? I was thinking about a light green but I’m not sure. Thanks for your help! See Answer From Kate Riley »

Like butter!

Sandra Writes: I am not quite ready to replace my kitchen cabinets, so I have decided to paint them. I have black appliances, a dark terra cotta colored tile floor and a neutral granite countertop. Not sure what color would work best. What would you suggest? See Answer From Stefanie Schiada »

A Two-Color Scheme to Complement a New Kitchen

Jeff Writes: We live in a split foyer home and have recently remodeled our kitchen; complete with a sage green color for the wall. We are now doing the living area and hallways that are adjacent to the kitchen and are stuck on what colors to use that would blend well with the kitchen color. We have dark hardwood floors with a big bay window, so lighting is pretty good. We would like to do a two color scheme with an entire wall or two dedicated to the second color. I've attached a kitchen pic so you can see the color we need to blend with. See Answer From Eduardo Rodriguez »

Neutral Territory

Gerri Writes: I have an open concept living room, dining room, and kitchen. My living room has navy blue furniture with silver and blue curtains. My kitchen cabinets are white, and I have stainless appliances. I’m not sure what I should do for paint. Suggestions?   Thank you!       See Answer From Kate Riley »

Flowing Color Scheme for Main Living Area

Mary Writes: I'm looking for advice for painting my small kitchen/breakfast nook/back entry, living room, and dining room that is laid out in a U shape. The kitchen and back entry are at the top right, followed by the breakfast nook and living room. The dining room at the top left closes the U shape at the top left. My biggest concern is to get the color scheme to flow. There is a red and teal color scheme in the kitchen and back entry that I love but I’m not set on keeping it. The kitchen counter is a green marble Formica that I would also be willing to replace. The kitchen features black and stainless steel appliances and white cabinets.   The kitchen is a 139"L x 96"W galley styled kitchen with a 34"W x 71"H window at the top of the U shape. There is another 34"W x35"H window halfway down on the outside wall. The breakfast nook/outside entry way is 136"L x 96"W with a large 59"W x 71 1/4"H window at the end. The outside entry door is positioned where the kitchen dimensions stop and the breakfast nook starts. The living room dimensions are 146" W x 208" L and there are two 34"W x 43"H windows, one on each side, with a 71"W x 59 1/2"T fireplace/mantle on the end wall. The dining room is 124"Wx141 1/2" H with a window measuring 34"W x 71"H and front door measuring 36"W x 80"T on the end wall, all ceilings are 8 ft.  See Answer From Diane Henkler »

A Rustic Farmhouse Vibe

Cherie Writes: My husband and I are re-doing our kitchen in phases. We've already replaced our island and flooring, and now we're ready to choose the rest of the cabinets. Our island is a beautiful dark-ish green, and my plan was to NOT have the island the same color as the other cabinets, but to let it compliment the cabinet color instead. Our floors are a wood look porcelain tile with a rustic farmhouse appeal. The problem is I've always assumed my cabinets would be a golden/honey wood stain but now I'm afraid that trying to blend wood cabinets with the wood look floors will be a problem and we should get painted wood cabinets instead, but still, I have no idea what color we should get. Please give me some direction so I can finally have the beautiful kitchen I've always wanted! See Answer From Eduardo Rodriguez »

Tips to Help Choose Colors of Adjoining Rooms

Brandon Writes: My living room, dining room and kitchen are pretty open to each other in an L-like shape. Currently the kitchen is an orange tone that I really like and the other rooms are a boring white. We want to add some color to the other rooms, is it too much, if there are clear breaking points to have a different color in each room, as long as they complement each other?   See Answer From Theresa & Mark Clement »
