Cranberry Lighten Up

hope Writes: I bought different furniture for my dining room, now it seems the cranberry color is too dark. There are 2 windows in the room and it is open to the kitchen that is also cranberry with golden oak cabinets and a slate grey counter top. The connecting rooms are spunsugar (light yellow/gold) with golden oak floors. I love color but want to lighten the room. Any suggestions?   See Answer From Ana White »

No More Knotty Pine!

Kate Writes: I'd like to paint my kitchen cabinets... I can't afford to replace them, but the knotty alder look is not for me. I want to go with either white or gray, but I'm afraid that they'll look weird if I paint over the knots. Any suggestions? See Answer From Diane Henkler »

Joining Disjointed Colors

Juli Writes: I’m in a new-to-me house and unable to change the bones of the kitchen, so would like to find a paint color that will tie some very disjointed (to me) things together. There are light brown maple cabinets, a grey corian countertop, pink backsplash tile (which I’m willing to paint over...and hopefully one day remove), and stainless appliances.  The rest of the house is mostly in SW Kilim Beige & Latte, with lots of black, green & red furniture/accents.  Would you share your recommendation for a color that can tie it all together? Having Fun with Color Without Overpowering the Room

Jan Writes: Just moved into an older house, the LR is rather small and odd shaped.  I have Espresso leather furniture, I want the walls to be painted a Pear/Granny Smith green, would this make the room look smaller and should I use the same colored drapes or something in the cream family? Lessen the Look of Yellowed White

Carol Writes: My bathroom has grey marble bathtub, shower, and vanity, with wood trim. The marble is yellowed from smoking. Is there a color of paint for the walls that will make the yellow less obvious? We are also getting new tile, not sure how to coordinate the two and help minimize the yellow. Choosing Earthy Colors for a Mural on a Neutral Wall

Eileen Merten Writes: I love the inspiration room! I placed my photo there and six colors popped up. I need your inspiration to decide what colors to use when I paint this directly onto newly painted walls. Since we have Sherwin Williams here in town, that's where I chose the paint color of Beach House for the room. I'd like to keep this simple and use as few colors as possible to make it look like a silhouette painting. Please help, this is a windowless basement family area that I'd like to paint this picture in. The room is a blank slate and is approx. 11 1/2 x 24.  I need your help to get me out of my beige box and use color. I'll attach my inspiration picture. Thanks so much. I'll definitely be using Glidden Paints, I love this website.  See Answer From Lindsay Ballard »

A Bold Bedroom for a Boy

Kylie Writes: I'm having extreme difficulty choosing the right yellow for our living room. This struggle has been a year-long process. Our living room has very little natural light with one window facing south. I want a very airy, cool yellow to lighten up the space. I do not want to walk into the room and see YELLOW. On the other hand, I also don't want to walk in seeing white, beige, or cream. I need the lightest, coolest yellow. HELP!!! See Answer From Melissa Michaels »
