My Mini Cozy Living Room

In a previous life (well, more like a year ago), I owned a bed and breakfast. As my career slowly morphed into lifestyle blogger, I was desperate to change my little B&B into my own place. Before I even closed the doors of my B&B, I took one room out of circulation and created a cozy living room for myself. Even though the room is fairly small, with the help of paint, a new light fixture, and some adorable accessories, I transformed it into a space I love to spend time in.

One amazing feature of the room is the fireplace. I thought this wall would be a great opportunity to add a splash of color. I used Glidden paint’s Peacock Blue as inspiration for this fun transformation. The rest of the walls were coated in Toasted White to keep things light and bright. With the combination of these two colors, I had a great start to a really cozy living room.

With an ever growing book collection, I built some DIY shelves for storage. Putting the books in color order added more interest to the shelves.

Bringing in a small love seat and other furnishings that I already had really made this space feel like it was my own. I enjoyed playing around with different patterns and color combinations. Having a neutral color on most of the walls made this possible.

Plants are another decorating essential. It’s amazing how much life a simple plant can bring to a space. I incorporated some air plants and a gorgeous orchid.

Plants can be a great source of color inspiration, too. If you’re not a fan of the teal color for the feature wall, pull some gorgeous color from the orchid and try Glidden paint’s Very Berry. Its saturated, rich color would make a perfect accent in a room.

And that’s my cozy living room. Have you experimented with any bold colors in your home?

I have been sponsored by the Glidden® brand paint for PPG to write this post but the thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.
