My Lovely Home Office Makeover

My home office has gone through a few changes in the five years I’ve lived in this house. It started out an unfortunate peachy color. I painted it pink right away, the same pink that was in my previous home office, and I liked that for a long time.

Pink is my favorite color, but after a while, I was ready for a change. I decided to not only paint the walls, but also the trim. It was “a total Monet!” You know, pretty from far away, but a total mess up close. So I had no reservations about painting it. Plus, the baseboard in my office had already been painted, just not the clean, crisp white I was going for. So I washed all of the trim, gave it a light sanding where needed, and broke out the primer.

One coat of primer and two coats of semi-gloss white paint later, I was thrilled. The white trim freshened up the whole space! Next, it was on to the painting. My little girl wanted in on the action, so I let her take a few passes with a dry roller.

The new wall color that I chose was a great minty green with hints of blue and gray in it. (Try Barely Jade or Husky Gray for a similar look.) Much of the furniture in the room stayed the same, so the color made a huge difference in the look and feel of the space. It was a bit of a departure from my usual style, but I was happy with the way it turned out! It’s so satisfying to completely transform a room with a coat of paint.
