Colors From Morocco
The new Colortopia™ exhibit from Glidden® is an interactive color experience at Epcot® in the Walt Disney World® Resort. We’re celebrating its November 13th opening with a series of posts inspired by the World Showcase pavilions at Epcot.
There are few cities in the world that evoke color inspiration like Marrakech, Morocco. Every alleyway and bazaar is a feast for the eyes in rich jewel tones and warm earth tones, accented in patinated brass and bronze. Using the colors of this amazing land can bring a touch of the exotic right into your home—true Moroccan paint inspiration.
An easy way to incorporate saturated colors without feeling overwhelmed is to “muddy” a bright shade with a neutral. You see this over and over in Morocco—where there are no stark whites or blacks—all colors have a mix of the desert browns that allow the seemingly endless palettes to work together flawlessly. The color palette is repeated on the walls, in the textures and in the food and drink, lending a beautiful harmony to this destination and providing wonderful inspiration as a homeowner.
Morocco-inspired colors can be used in both bold and subtle ways in a home. Glidden’s Deep Raspberry Shadow, Audrey’s Auburn or Husky Grey would lend a striking rich color as an accent or an entire room. Or if you want a more subdued color scheme, use one of the several pale neutrals in the palette like Elegant Ivory Cream or Candlestick Silver. Light or dark colors can be matched with the palest shades in the palette like Marshmallow White and Swan White.
Using these colors inspired by Morocco makes it easy to select a coordinated look for your home while letting you mix and match to suit your tastes. Let the amazing colors of Morocco inspire you. Happy painting!
