Need Baby Boy Nursery Ideas? Get Inspired by Zebras!
I’m planning a nursery for my son right now, so plenty of baby boy nursery ideas have been swirling around in my head these days. One fun one that I didn’t go with (but would love to see someone else pull off!) was inspired by a design classic: Scalamandré’s Zebra wallpaper in red. However, wallpaper can be tricky; it’s an investment, and you never know if your child will one day spill, scribble, or otherwise ruin it. Our new home had wallpaper in my older son’s room, and he peeled a huge swath of it off! With that in mind, I decided to create a zebra nursery design that can be achieved with paint and accessories.
Perhaps not a lot of baby boy nursery ideas would have you painting with red, but Glidden paint’s French Stripe Red is a great match for the background of the inspiration wallpaper. The color is vibrant, but still rather soft and appealing, but if it’s too bold for the whole room, it also looks great on an accent wall against the crib. A campaign dresser is a subtle nod to the wallpaper’s presumed setting, and a cute zebra rug also picks up on the theme. A beautiful glider is a nice touch for the parents, and a simple but attractive crib is a good choice here—you don’t need anything that looks too fancy. Polka dot crib sheets complement the room, along with black and white striped and red pillows. Some finishing touches include an adorable wooden mobile and this affordable lamp.
It’s not your typical baby boy nursery design, but it works! I went in a different direction for my little guy’s nursery and it isn’t finished yet, but I’m a little sad that I didn’t go with this idea. Quick! One of you, grab it and make it your own! And then share it with the rest of us so that we can live vicariously through you and your fun room.
