Painting a Playful Pink Dresser

Nicole wanted to do something special with this old dresser. It had good bones, but the original wood finish was in rough shape. When the time came to decorate her daughter Eleanor’s nursery, this vintage piece had its day.

The existing finish was sanded down and wiped clean, and the dresser got two thin coats of primer, followed by one more round of sanding to ensure a smooth base.

Nicole decided on a fun and playful color—similar to Powder Pink from Glidden paint—that stands out from the neutral nursery walls. She even lined the drawers with repurposed floral wallpaper for added personality.

The result is a totally transformed dresser, thanks to a fresh coat of paint in an unexpected color.
