Home Office Inspiration
As a lifestyle blogger at Inspired by Charm, I’m thankful that I can work from home. And thanks to technology, more and more people are able to do the same. So whether you telecommute like me, or just want to have a stylish home office, here’s some office inspiration from my own space.
My home office has a bit of a backstory. The space started off as a living room. When I ran a bed and breakfast, it was a gift shop. And now, it’s an office. Here’s how I made the transition.
I started searching for office inspiration in various places, such as home magazines and Pinterest. I then decided on a color scheme. For the walls, I wanted something that would keep the space bright, give a hint of color, and work well with other colors in the room. Glidden paint’s Smooth Stone is a great choice to achieve this look. I also added an accent wall in a color similar to Lagoon Green.
Once I chose the paint colors, I designated a few areas within the room to perform specific functions. I set up a desk area for my computer and printer. I added a shelving unit for exposed (yet pretty) storage. I created a work station that could also serve as a place for entertaining. Finally, in the corner of the room, I tucked in a small area to relax and recharge.
I love mixing new and old, so one of my favorite projects for this space was repurposing an old tool bench for my work station. I added a new butcher block top and paired the whole thing with white stools.
These are actually vintage stools I picked up at a thrift shop for $8 each. I gave them a coat of Glidden Trim, Door & Furniture Paint for a high gloss sheen and durable finish. This area really enhanced the utility of my space.
As with any design project, have patience and take your time to make sure your home office works for you. This space took a solid year to come together, and there are still things I want to add and tweak.
I hope you found some office inspiration from my space and are ready to tackle your own. Happy decorating!
