How to Create the Coziest Winter Bedroom

The time has come again to deck the halls for the Holidays. But this year let’s think beyond the living and dining rooms and extend the decorating frenzy into our bedrooms to get them ready for the chilly nights to come. There’s nothing like a warm and cozy room for Winter, so here’s a few tips to help you transform your bedroom into a delicious place for to cuddle up.

Dark colors are best to create cozyness

DARK TONES
If you want your bedroom to feel serene and inviting try using darker color palettes as they tend to visually warm up a space. Hues like Cool Metalwork Grey and Shaded Fern are a great start. Combine them with lighter shades of grey to create a sexy and relaxing alcove.

Textures and patters create interest

PATTERNS AND TEXTURES
Make a big statement by playing around with an array of finishes, patterns and textures. Don’t be afraid to mix cushy textures like sheepskin and wool with tribal patterns and even animal prints — they look great together.

Blankets and throws give a sense of warmth

IT’S ALL ABOUT LAYERS
Just like we need to layer up to stay warm in Winter, use layers of textiles like blankets and throws to cozy up your bed. They will come in handy on when temperatures fall below freezing.

Use task lighting to create a mood

MAKE IT GLOW
For me lighting is one of the most important elements in any decorating projects — and one that’s often underrated. While overhead lighting is important, indirect and task lighting is what sets the mood in a room. Table lamps and small floor lamps next to the bed are great accents that will make your bedroom glow. Accessories like luminaries and candles will make the ambiance in the room even more special.

Whether for your own room or your guests’, these easy and affordable additions will give any bedroom the Winter vibe you’re longing for. Happy Winter!
