A Bedroom Inspired by HGTV Dream Home 2016
Have you taken the online tour of HGTV Dream Home 2016? If not, you’re in for a colorful treat.
I was invited by Glidden paint to tour the house, which is located on Merritt Island in Florida near Cocoa Beach. Touring HGTV Dream Home 2016 was incredibly inspiring, especially because I just moved into an older home that needs some redecorating.
Over 160 gallons of Glidden paint were used at HGTV Dream Home 2016—all from the High Endurance line, available at Walmart. The color palette is very Florida coast, ranging from New Terra Cotta to Bastille Blue. The trim was painted in Grab-N-Go White.
My favorite room in the house was this bedroom suite. I liked its casual feel and terrace doorway. The Bastille Blue color on the walls added a calming serenity that I found very appealing. I knew from the moment I stepped into the room that I’d be painting my bedroom the very same color.
Here is a before photo of a wall in my bedroom, still fresh from my move a few weeks ago. Most of the rooms were painted neutral, but the bedroom was painted yellow. The yellow color made me feel uneasy. I love all things blue and knew that the only way I was going to make my new bedroom feel right to me was to paint it. I knew with a little effort on my part I could have the room painted Bastille Blue in just one weekend.
Two coats of Bastille Blue on the walls and two coats of Swan White on the trim were all it took to erase the yellow from my bedroom.
Calm and serene. Bliss.
Now that the room is painted, the rest of the decor will fall into place.
That’s the power of paint—it can transform any space into one you’ll fall in love with quickly (and inexpensively).
