How to Brighten Your Bathroom with Grey

Is your bathroom loaded with white tile and fixtures but lacking a solid paint choice? Looking for a way to brighten your bathroom without a major overhaul? Look no further—go with greys. It may seem counterintuitive, but selecting a saturated charcoal grey wall color and adding polished, reflective accents will do the trick! The greys contrast with the bright white making the whole room feel cleaner, brighter and more spacious. A grey wall paired with reflective element will move the eye around, making the room more inviting and instantly refresh the decor with an updated palette.

The natural inclination in a small space is to go with a light color like beige, pastel or white, but these will not effectively brighten your bathroom. Try to fight that instinct and choose a rich saturated grey far down on the chip. The darker you go, the more contrast you create and the brighter the white accents will feel. Try Glidden paint’s Granite Grey or Dusty Miller.

Once you’ve selected a wall color, you’ll want to add small accents of shiny metal to further add some reflective elements to your bathroom. Look for opportunities to include mirrors, hardware, light fixtures and accent accessories.

Finally, don’t forget lighting. Even a little natural light can be better harvested by leaving windows with minimal window treatments. If privacy is a concern, frost your windows rather than cover them so you don’t lose a drop of sunlight. Make sure your light fixtures provide plenty of illumination to support the natural light. The more wattage you can add, the brighter the room will feel.
